How to Refresh Your Google News Feed

Find out how to change your Google News settings and make the most of your personalized news feed.

Go to your “Google News” app

Open the “Google News” app on your phone. Once you’re on the main screen, tap on the three lines in the top left-hand corner of your screen. This will open up a menu. In the menu, tap “Customize.”

On the next page, you’ll see all of the sections that you currently have in your Google News feed. To remove a section, simply tap on the “X” next to it. To add a new section, tap on the “Add section” button at the bottom of the page.

You can also rearrange the order of your sections by tapping and holding on the three lines next to a section and then dragging it up or down. When you’re finished customizing your news feed, tap “Done” in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

In the top right corner of the screen, click on the three dots. A drop-down menu will appear. From this menu, select “Settings.” Alternatively, you can go to https://news.google.com/settings.

A new page will load with your Google News settings. At the top of the page, you will see a section labeled “Release.” This is the setting that controls how often your Google News feed refreshes with new content.

By default, Google News is set to release new content “As it happens.” If you want your news feed to refresh more frequently, you can select one of the other options: “Every minute,” “Every five minutes,” or “Every 15 minutes.”

Tap “Settings”

At the top of your Google News home page, tap the three-line menu icon, then tap “Settings.” If you’re not automatically signed in to Google News, sign in now.

Scroll down to “Refresh interval”

At the top of your “Home” screen, tap the three vertical dots icon > Settings.

Tap Refresh interval.

Choose how often you want your feed to refresh: every 15 minutes, once an hour, or once a day.

You can choose to have your news feed update as often as every minute, or as little as once a day. To change how often your news feed updates:
1. Open the Google News app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
3. Under “General,” tap Refresh frequency.
4. Choose how often you want your news feed to refresh.
